We took a short weekend trip to Wellsboro, PA on the recommendation of a friend who was from the area. She had told us about the 62-mile rails-to-trails bike path along the Pine Creek Gorge. People from the area refer to this gorge as the “Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania”. We stayed at the Canyon Country Campground. While we were surprised to see a Pride flag in the camp store, it was clear from other signs in the area that this might be an outlier.
There were a few highlights from the trip. We rode a portion of the Pine Creek Rail Trail. Round trip we road about 25 miles. We enjoyed walking around the town of Wellsboro, tagging the house that our friend grew up in, seeing the Wynken, Blynken, and Nod fountain, and eating at the Wellsboro House. Mostly, we enjoyed taking a long weekend trip to a beautiful area.
